Indigenous Pact – Modular Dialysis Clinic

Dialysis treatment can be a matter of life or death for the nearly 500,000 people with kidney disease estimated to be receiving this treatment in the U.S., yet access is not widely available, especially in rural locations. One such location is Lame Deer, MT, where until recently, residents were forced to travel up to several hours each day to receive treatment at the nearest clinic.
To help address this urgent need, BILDT, Boulder Associates and Indigenous Pact partnered to design a fully volumetric modular dialysis clinic. Measuring 3,500 SF, the clinic’s modules were constructed off site in Boldt’s prefabrication facility, then transported to Lame Deer for placement and assembly. This modular solution both allowed area residents to receive treatment much faster than would have been possible with traditional construction, as well as avoided costly delays and budget increases due to rural labor shortages.

Project Highlights
• BILDT and Boulder Associates worked in close collaboration to design a highly efficient floor plan that optimizes Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DfMA).
• The fully volumetric modular facility was constructed almost entirely off site at BILDT’s prefabrication facility, then transported via flatbed truck for placement and assembly.
• BILDT self-performed carpentry, hoisting and rigging, and studs / drywall.
