Detroit Helps to Introduce Young Minds to Careers in Construction  

Boldt’s Wixom office was delighted to participate in the fourth annual Touch-a-Truck event hosted by the Lyon Township Downtown Development Authority (DDA) at Lowe’s in New Hudson, Mich.

Designed to introduce children and families to careers in construction, skilled trades and other industries, the event has grown into one of the community’s most anticipated family friendly experiences. This year’s event welcomed nearly 1,100 attendees and featured 33 businesses and organizations.

Throughout the day, Boldt’s exhibit was a popular destination for families. Interns Krista Van Dis, Alexis Graye and Josh Rios welcomed visitors, distributed children’s safety vests and construction-themed giveaways and helped young attendees try on safety helmets and learn more about the construction industry. A Boldt vehicle was on display and a cornhole game further encouraged interaction, creating a fun and engaging environment for all.

“Events like Touch-a-Truck help to strengthen connections between local businesses and families while creating memorable experiences for children in the community,” said Krista Van Dis, Marketing Intern at Boldt.

The vests quickly became a favorite among attendees, with families throughout the venue seeking out the Boldt booth to obtain one. One of the most memorable sights of the day was the number of children proudly wearing Boldt-branded safety vests as they explored the event.

The team looks forward to continuing its involvement in future community events that promote education, workforce awareness and community connection.
