Wisconsin Public Service – Fox Energy Center, Phase I and II
The Fox Energy Center is a natural gas fired, combined cycle electrical power station located in Kaukauna, Wisconsin. It provides 618 MW of energy for WPS customers and is owned by the Calpine Corporation. Delivered in two phases, Boldt was awarded several contracts for the greenfield power plant with GE Financial Services serving as the general contractor for the project.
Phase I involved the construction of a 235 MW combined cycle gas fired plant. Boldt’s scope of work included the installation of one Nooter Eriksen Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) and one GE 7FB combustion gas turbine/generator assembly. Additional contracts held by Boldt included utility rack assembly, structural steel platforms and building enclosures, 10 pre-engineered buildings, foundations for the steam turbine generator, cooling tower and miscellaneous equipment. Approximately 122,000 craft man hours were required to complete the project.
Phase II called for construction of an additional 235 MW electric power plant. Boldt’s scope of work included the construction of the HRSG, CTG and auxiliary foundations, assembly of the combustion turbine and generator, installation of one Nooter Eriksen Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) and utility rack extension.
