Froedtert Hospital – Birthing Center Expansion

The Froedtert Hospital Birthing Center Expansion Phase 1 enhanced maternity services through a multi-phased, multi-level renovation within space leased from Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, Inc. The project focused on improving patient flow, expanding care capacity and upgrading critical infrastructure.

Phase 1 included renovations totaling 9,600 SF on Level 1 to create a triage space that directs birthing center traffic to the appropriate floors. An additional 25,000 SF underwent demolition and buildout on Level 4 to introduce new labor and delivery spaces, including a C-section suite and midwife rooms equipped with therapeutic tubs. To support these upgrades, 1,000 SF on Level 6M was dedicated to a new air-handling unit, shifting mechanical loads and ensuring the existing system met requirements for the renovated Level 4 space.

Phase 2 built upon these improvements by completing renovations on Level 6M, adding six additional rooms on Level 4 and updating leased spaces on Levels 6, 7 and 8 to align with the overall design and functionality of the expanded birthing center.
